Presently? Big fat no. Money’s not a huge issue like it was when I wasn’t getting enough hours at work, but I still don’t want the expense of spaying when I could avoid it entirely by just getting males. (And I wouldn’t just put them in a separate cage; my goal is to have all the rats in one cage to make traveling to my hometown twice a year. I realize it’s difficult to tell that because I keep obtaining more cages, but I really would like to just have 2-3 travel cages. :P)
In the future? Possibly. I’m graduating college & likely moving to Chicago next year—I’m going to be living in a small apartment with a roommate & will hopefully have more discretionary income. I’d lovelovelove to have a dog, but it’s going to depend entirely on the size of the apartment & where I’m working (I have no idea what profession I’m going into). If I am able to get a dog, I’d probably stick with 4-7 male rats in the Ferret Nation, but if I’m working too much to have a dog or the apartment’s too small, I’d like to obtain a(n already) pregnant female rat & raise/keep the babies. Ideally, there would only be a few female babies & I could afford to get them spayed & all would live happily as a big giant family, but spays are freaking expensive & if there were a lot of females, I’d probably just go ahead & buy a second Ferret Nation & keep boys in one & girls in another.

Muchas gracias. :)
